You may be surprised to learn ‘going-green’ in human resources doesn’t just mean reducing paper waste and recycling.
In fact, I came across an insightful interview by Bill Roth of Earth2017, who spoke to Walmart’s Director of Sustainability, Candace Taylor about some innovative practices being used by HR to achieve truly aggressive sustainability goals.
You can read Bill’s interview with Candace and see for yourself how Walgreen is:
- Leveraging the power of enterprise-wide volunteers to bring about positive change
- Recognizing individual contributions and money/earth saving ideas
(My favorite story is the $1 Million an employee saved by suggesting vending machine lights be turned off…W.O.W.)
- Encouraging cross-functional collaborative teams spanning entry-level employees to upper-management
Check out the article and ask yourself this question: “How does my company’s green initiatives compare to Walmart’s?” Let us know…we’d love to hear.
